“This whole bike thing is getting really old!”
This was the thought running through my head my entire commute across town this morning. I’m usually really good about beating my negativity into submission when I need to focus on the “silver lining” and power through. But today was coming at me from all angles. I don’t know if it is Katia, Lee or some other tropical storm that just dumped on Worcester earlier today, but it was miserable. The problem is not the rain, it was pretty much everything all at once.
I’m sure you’ve had one of those days where each thing keeps going wrong to the point when you are surprised that you don’t spill your coffee everywhere. I’m sure it was the rain, my shoes weighing in at 20 lbs, getting 4 hours of sleep and knowing I had a minimum 16 hour day ahead of me but I was actually surprised I didn’t fall off my bike into a heap of trash.
Now that you know where my attitude and demeanor are today, I can speak to the validity of “this whole bike thing is getting old”. To that end, I say it’s about time! It’s been 6 months and I have just now started to view my daily bike commutes with the same disdain as I did my car commute. I’m mentioned this transition before and recognize that “necessary evil” aspect of it. CarFree can’t be all fun and games. The struggle is the journey blah, blah, blah and all that happy nonsense.
I’m having trouble finding personal growth insights to share now so I will close with a simple question:
