According to the forecast my commute was sure to suck until Wednesday afternoon this week with torrential downpours everywhere. I don’t know if anyone else saw the weather map for this week. All of Massachusetts, hell New England, under giant raindrops.
Last night I had an elaborate plan all worked out that involved a change of clothes, a
bathing suit and not much else in order to get through it. Based on the way the rain sounded all night and when I got out of bed, I was certain I would have to engage “operation swim/bike” to the train.
But somehow, I got lucky! About 15 minutes before I had to leave the rain broke and it didn’t even appear to be drizzling. I’ll say that I timed it just right and was able to read the clouds, the radar and prevailing winds to know when to make my move but it was really just the train schedule that I read. Anyway, for the 10 minutes I needed it was clear sailing. Just as I pulled into the train station, the clouds opened up again about 2 minutes too late to soak me.
I guess I should enjoy this, my last dry train ride, because the weather gods only smile once and this is probably the third time this has happened to me. Time to break out the full rubber rain suit for tomorrow.
